Cris Stiles is a native of Huntington Beach, California where he attended Huntington Beach High School and its magnet The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA). Growing up in Southern California during the 90's afforded Cris the opportunity to live at the epicenter of popular music and in a community long familiar with drum corps and pageantry. He cannot think of a better place to have started his music education.

Cris graduated from the University of Utah in the Spring of 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and will receive a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Arkansas at Monticello the summer of 2024. Altogether Cris is in his 18th year of actively teaching in the marching arts, and in his 5th year as a Head Director.

Cris currently serves as the Director of Bands at Mountain Ridge High School in Herriman, Utah and as an Assistant Director and Program Coordinator for the MRHS Indoor Percussion Ensemble.

Cris continues to be an active freelance percussionist and studio musician. He is a highly sought after clinician and works to continue to bring quality to jazz and percussion education into each community he has the opportunity to do so. Cris lives with his infinitely patient wife Stephanie and three daughters, Olivia, Daphne and Faye in Herriman, Utah.
